Millinery
In this project we needed to work on a millinery piece. You had a lot of freedom within this project. The only important aspect is that it had to be based on a statue or other artists work. I chose to base my work of the paper cut pieces from Mia Pearl-man. She is an artist that makes big installations of paper cuts. Sometimes also working with light and plastics in between.
My approach
At first I made some sketches to start having an idea of how I would want the headpiece to look. For this project I chose to have the sketches as a guideline to have more freedom with making the actual piece.
I enjoyed giving myself freedom in placement and building onto a base rather than planning everything out in an exact way. Now I could continuously see if I liked the way it was becoming and I could always add more pieces or take some away.
